9.04 To Bear WitnessWhat the hell is going on with JJ? Who is this Matt guy to her? And why is she keeping it from the rest of the team? :sSigh. I knew having a new Unit Chief will not be all good news. This Mateo Cruz guy, aside from the whole JJ thing, is mostly cool. He gets how the team works and trusts them with the steps they take. I don’t think he ever stood in the way (except for that one time he suggested a joint task force but upon Hotch’s insistence held off anyway). I can see him working well with the BAU.My guess is Cruz and JJ crossed paths when JJ took that short stint away from the team. He mentioned something about his ‘case staying open for two/three years’ and that’s right around the time JJ left. Why they’re keeping it between them is still a mystery but they’re working with profilers. It won’t stay secret for long. I think Rossi is already suspicious (and I wouldn’t be surprised if he already knows what’s going on XD)Anyway, case of the week features OUaT’s Dr. Whale/Frankenstein! With a German accent! I was never a fan of on-screen lobotomy so this was a little disturbing. Just the needle and the eye, and then the first-person POV of the actual lobotomy was pretty uncomfortable. The Sam situation, I found really compelling. He had a sort of locked-in syndrome and could only communicate with his eyes. I like the frustration in his voice, especially when he had to spell out his name using the board. I also thought to myself how annoyingly time-consuming that method is and listening to him struggle to focus and try really hard to stay awake was heartening.I kind of lost track of the investigation part because I was distracted by the lobotomy but did they crack the case with just the 'DANI?’ That 80%-correct piece of information was available pretty early on but they only used it towards the end. And one search later, Garcia already had everything on Anton. IDK, I must have missed something. XDTurns out this was a case of extreme sibling rivalry. Yeah, the victims were his sister and her boy friend. Anton performed lobotomy on his own sister because he was jealous and competitive and wanted his father’s attention. The sad part is, his father still ignored him when they bumped into each other in the station. :(But seriously, what is up with JJ and Cruz? -- source link
