inherhipstheresrevolutions: bizarre-oddities: inherhipstheresrevolutions: strangerindanger: If you’d used birth control in the first place, you wouldn’t be demanding abortion. Abortion is a form of birth control - it prevents you from giving birth/controls when you do so.Also, not everyone can use contraception or knows how to - especially in places where you have to pay for it, or abstinence only sex ed is taught, or if you belong to a family who is uber religious/are in an abusive relationship which makes it impossible for you to access contraception. My sister has recently had to come off the pill because my mum found them and binned them (she binned mine as well, even though I’m 20 and in a long-term same-sex relationship… that’s how controlling and bigoted she is) and she’s now conflicted when it comes to getting the pill again because of all the guilt-tripping my mum has done. It’s too risky for her to go back on it/have condoms on her in case my mum finds out again (she gets into a rage and starts slut-shaming my sister to high hell, guilt trips her, uses the whole “YOU’RE RUINING OUR RELATIONSHIP, YOU SLEEPING AROUND AFFECTS ME TOO YOU KNOW” argument) against her to coerce her into not going on the pill/do what she wishes when it comes to having safe sex etc.Just, don’t. Don’t be so fucking ignorant. It’s not always just a case of “if you’d have been using contraception in the first place you wouldn’t need an abortion”.It’s also not the only reason people have abortions - abortion can literally save the pregnant persons life, it can prevent someone’s mental health from deteriorating, a pregnant person could have wanted the pregnancy and have bonded with that fetus but then found out the fetus developed a severe complication in the womb and the only option for them becomes abortion, even though they really wanted to have the baby. So yes, abortion on demand without apology because there are way too many reasons - reasons that aren’t for anyone else to judge - for people to have an abortion. I’m not against abortions exactly. But I am against it if someone is getting one due to being irresponsible. You can afford an abortion, but not the pill/condoms? And yes, I’m aware condoms break, sometimes the pill fails. But it’s that persons responsibility to make sure to protect themselves against that sort of situation. I really would only suggest abortion if someone is raped and gets pregnant, or if they find out something is really wrong with the fetus and could possibly kill the mother while in the process of being pregnant/having the child. If it’s not your body, it’s not your choice or business though. No, you could have someone who can afford BC etc but didn’t know about it or wasn’t allowed to be on it because of the example with my sister I provided. So when they find out they’re pregnant, they’re so desperate not to be pregnant that they pay for the abortion and just get it, even though they’re at risk of being caught out. These are all examples of the possible reasons people obtain abortions..Abortion should be legal like cancer treatment is legal - It doesn’t matter how you got pregnant or how you got cancer, you still have the right to healthcare. You wouldn’t tell a cancer patient they don’t deserve to have chemo just because they smoked for 40 years and that’s why they’ve developed lung cancer, would you?So don’t do it with reproductive healthcare.
