heartinaheadcase:God bless this man’s unbelievable ability to wear his heart not only on his sleeve, but on his stupidly handsome face as well. The way he’s looking at Henry in this scene speaks a million words. You can’t tell me that is not a face of pure adoration and love. He’s realizing just how much this child means to him, independent of his feelings for Emma. He sees Baelfire in this boy. He sees his second chance to have a family, to be a father. He may not have gotten the chance with Bae, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t try to make up for that with Henry. I don’t understand why so many people are angry at the thought of Killian becoming a father figure to Henry. Yes, we all wish Neal could have been there for Henry. Of course it would be better if he could have his biological father in his life, no one is denying that. But it’s time to face facts, kids… Neal’s dead. He’s not coming back. And if we’re being really honest, Neal and Henry didn’t have much of a relationship in the first place because of Neal’s choices. I strongly believe that Neal never intended to hurt Henry, and that he would have been a good father… but unfortunately, his actions and decisions have made that impossible now. So, why should Henry continue to suffer for the sins of his father? Yes, Henry has no shortage of family. He has two mothers, sure. But does he not deserve a father figure in his life? We saw how quickly Henry and David bonded. The poor boy craves a male role model, and unfortunately, that is probably not a role David will be able to fulfill… at least, not completely. David will always be an important part of Henry’s life, but as his grandfather. David will have his own brand new child to parent soon. But there is another man in Henry’s life, a man who has wanted a son for hundreds of years. A man who just so happens to have considered Henry’s father to be his family. Killian and Henry’s relationship is NOT about shipping, it is about loving the family that you choose, it is about being there for someone because you want to and not because you are blood.Let’s not pretend Killian’s past is a deal breaker for his being a parent to Henry. His mothers have done their fair share of wrong in the past, too (I’m thinking of one of them more so than the other, but still… neither are perfect angels). Regina can pick Killian apart all she likes, but I’m sorry - anything she says right now is out of jealousy over the bond he and Henry are forming. It’s highly hypocritical for her to hold his past against him, especially given how much farther along Killian is on his redemption arc when compared to her. And truthfully… Regina’s opinion on this matter doesn’t hold all that much weight. She can’t force Emma to keep Killian out of their lives, and frankly, Henry should get a say as well - and it seems pretty likely he’d like Killian to stick around. Henry deserves a father in his life. Who better than a man who will strengthen his connection to his biological father? Killian would never dream of replacing Neal. He specifically set out to help Henry feel a connection to his father, and he will continue to honour Neal’s memory. He will be able to teach him the things that his father would have taught him, he will be able to share his memories of Bae, and he will help Henry to keep his father’s spirit alive in his heart. And damn, it’s going to be really beautiful. -- source link
