It’s watering day today sometimes I’m a bit of a lazy bones when it comes to watering but as soon as I smell the fresh soil I feel pulled back down to earth watering my plants is one of the few ways I’ve been able to connect to nature - the long winters in the northeast tend to take a toll on my mental health, so I’ve not been able to enjoy long walks in Prospect Park as much as I do during the warmer months. As humans, we’re not meant to stay indoors for days at a time. It feels like this disconnect from our environment is what causes climate apathy - by literally taking us out of the natural world, which we are very much a part of, we lose our relationship to trees, plants, animals, and everything else mama earth provides For now, social distancing takes precedent in order to keep our fellow citizens safe from COVID But I’d like to know from you - how have you been connecting to nature lately?
