☕️ coffee thoughts from this morning ☕️Lately, logging onto Instagram has felt… strange; an uphill battle. Not being able to safely see people irl + the addictive nature of social media has turned into this futile search into what content is the most shareable, likeable, saveable. And even still - the algorithm decides to only show a small percentage of my following the things I post. Being in here is definitely not about the numbers - but knowing that my work is being hidden from a large % of the community I’ve worked hard to builtd over the last 4+ years is disheartening. IG feels like a digital conundrum. On one end, I use this platform as a source of income, to connect with friends, and to learn about what’s going on in the world. But I also sometimes fall into the trap of comparing myself (why isn’t my platform growing at the same rate as x/y/z’s? Why don’t I have as good engagement as I did 2 years ago?). Recently, I’ve been pulling back ever so slightly, in the hopes I can remind myself that there is an entire world going on outside of social media. I’ve been turning my phone off at night, reading, going running, going for walks, and I hope to implement slow mornings again sometime soon. That was a bit of a ramble but I hope you all spend some time without your phone today. Go for a walk + enjoy the sunshine if you can or cozy up with a warm sweater + cup of coffee.
