Lekythos (Oil Pitcher), Oionokles Painter, c. 480-470 BC, Cleveland Museum of Art: Greek and Roman ArtThis is the most famous of all the scenes by the Oionokles Painter. A warrior cuts a lock of his hair with his sword. It has been suggested that this young man is one of the Seven Against Thebes, a legend recorded by Aeschylus (467 BC) and others.
