I’m not sure how long some of you have been following me, but I wanted to mention something that I think could be helpful for some people. Not too long ago, maybe a little over a year, I admitted that I had never shot portraits before because it was just too intimidating to me. And it was, I was terrified of it. But nevertheless, I made a few text posts about how I wanted to try it out and acted like I was going to be brave and make it happen, but I didn’t. I didn’t take action and I continued to play it safe.I want you all to know that that is normal. Don’t beat yourself up for being scared. We all need our own time to figure things out, our own timeline. But I think it’s important to never be content staying scared indefinitely, knowing there are things you want to try but haven’t.So anyway, fast forward a little bit. Here is a portrait I shot yesterday at Deception Pass. I’m really happy with this photo, but I’m more happy at the thought that this stands as my third portrait shoot so far. I faced one of my biggest fears, and it feels really good.Trying to keep this post short and sweet but I just wanted to bring this up because we all have things that intimidate us. I still have so many more… But, I want to encourage all of us to slowly chip away at our fears, because there is so much joy that comes from doing things you are scared of. -- source link
