burgess-meredith:This special, candid photo from the archives so perfectly sums up the relationship between Ginger Rogers and Burgess! It was taken on the set of the adorable 1941 film Tom, Dick and Harry. They paired together for another film titled Magnificent Doll (1946). After Tom, Dick and Harry, Burgess and Ginger became close friends (by this time, he was in a serious relationship with soon-to-be wife Paulette Goddard). He considered his friendship with Ginger to be one of the most pure and wholesome of his life. My mother recorded hours and hours of Burgess talking about his life and career and this is a snippet of what he had to say about their friendship: “…Ginger and I were very much alike - cut from the same cloth, so to speak. She had such a wonderful sense of humor and it was always a million laughs. When we got together, we acted like complete children - joking around constantly. Tennis, bowling, swimming and always ice cream! Ginger did not drink, you know. And I always greatly respected that. We both loved ice cream but the screen wouldn’t allow for us to indulge too much. We would go to the drugstore and buy every flavor of ice cream they had and would take a spoonful or two of each. She was a great friend.”The most adorable picture! -- source link
