ok but consider: what if Izunia was Ardyn’s husband?(some ficrambling under the cut about their first meeting: possible backstory for a fic that may or may not happen sometime in the near future.)Curious to see this mysterious healer who’s been curing his subjects of the Scourge, the king has summoned the so-called “Healer of Lucis” to his court. And it is thus that Ardyn, ragged wanderer in a broad-brimmed hat, tired and travel-worn, stands before the king.Izunia - “the Wise”, as his subjects have taken to calling him; though young, he is said to possess a cunning mind and wisdom beyond his years - is resplendent in black silks, his piercing blue-gray eyes like clear pools beneath a moonlit sky. Lesser men have trembled beneath that gaze, but Ardyn is unperturbed. Mortal men hold no terror for one who has held court with gods and daemons alike.Still, there is something about those eyes of Izunia’s, something that cuts through to the very heart of him, pierces through the layers of mystery and legend and near-worship that have grown up around this god-touched vagabond. His face is impassive, betrays no emotion; what Izunia sees when he looks at him, Ardyn does not know. The king bids him approach. “Some call you a daemon. Others, a herald of the Six themselves. Yet I would hear it from your own lips, sir healer. Tell me, Ardyn - who are you?” Izunia’s voice is measured and calm, serene as the ornamental pools that stand at the entrance to his palace; reflecting light, but showing not a glimpse of what lies beneath their placid depths.Ardyn removes his hat, takes a sweeping bow. “A man of no consequence, Your Majesty.” He offers Izunia a rakish grin, a smile that reaches all the way to his eyes; this Ardyn is not the embittered creature he will become in time. And if there is a certain teasing cast to his lips, an invitation in the way his amber eyes meet Izunia’s blue - well, who can blame him? The king is a striking man, and Ardyn is only mortal, after all.“Oh, I doubt that very much indeed,” Izunia replies. His expression has not changed, but the sudden flush of heat in his pale cheeks makes Ardyn think he might not be so restrained and proper after all, given half the chance. Oh, this is going to be fun. -- source link
