jpnostalgia:squeedge:thebunnyremix:jpnostalgia:JURASSIC PARK vs JURASSIC WORLD trilogies why the original trilogy feels more mature and real than the new one, more cartoonish instead. Which style do you prefer?http://jpnostalgia.tumblr.com/As much as I love Jurassic World, I have to agree with this. They’re so focused on recapturing the magic, that they’ve forgotten where that magic came from in the first place.I have such a bone to pick with the way the dinosaurs are animated in JW- the original movies took inspiration from real animals and studied them and it’s evident. Inaccuracies aside, and strictly artistically speaking, JP feels tangible and grounded in reality; that makes it gripping. Take the raptors for example- their movements are very birdlike, same goes for the dilopho, and t-rex feels like a truly foreboding apex predator. The animals pause, anticipate. They have moments of “stillness” just as real animals do. The different species have distinct behavior, body language, vocalizations and communication patterns. They are not constantly vocalizing, twitching, snarling, thrashing and practically convulsing like you see in JW. Seriously- the animals in JW move like they have spines made of rubber snakes or something. They don’t move or behave like any animals that exist, and all the ‘main’ dinosaurs essentially the same. It becomes a “generic fantasy beast” encounter that you can’t connect to… versus the awe of the original which holds parallel to nature documentaries. Exactly. I think animators (and problably influenced by the producers too) now confide too much in the advances in CGI that they sometimes don’t even pay attention to how real animals move and behave. It seems like they are more interested in showing how much detail and movement they can add, rather than create the most realistic special effect possible. Everything is wiggly for some reason. almost like jelly- dinos -- source link
