Labels are okay. Labels are actually really important for those of who are not what’s considered the default. The fact that someone is middle eastern (let’s not go with the racist assumption that the skin complexion makes them Muslim) affects their life in drastic ways in America. They automatically get profiled, pulled out of line at the airport. And that’s only just a little bit of the reality. For lots of marginalized people that kind of experience has a big influence on them and they consider it a vital part of who they are.What this image is trying to achieve is NOT equality.
