designmeetstyle: Concrete for your candles. Create this inexpensive and stylish DIY idea in just 7 easy steps: Using a cup, mix cement powder with water until it is a smooth paste (around the consistency of ice cream). Pour cement into container and lightly pound on table surface to remove any air pockets in the mixture. Then take your 3 small cups and put a few coins inside each. Push each cup into the cement, keeping them centered and allowing adequate space for votive candles to drop down once dry. Let it sit for 24 hours and then begin to cut/tear off the outer container. Once removed, let sit and dry for another 12 hours or so. Now you are ready to add color by taping off a bottom stripe with painter’s tape. Brush on an accent paint (we used Glidden Ripe Apricot) for the stripe and add color inside candle holes if desired. Finally, drop in votive candles, light a flame and you have a beautiful and afforable home accent. For about $10, you can create this fun and funky candle holder. What goes great with this project?
