Prompt of the DayPerson A and Person B sucking helium and talking in very high-pitched voices.Friendship. All the damn time the word was mentioned, the first person that came to your mind had always been Chittaphon Lee, or Ten, for short. You had been friends since childhood and would probably always be friends. Those times in elementary school, the chubby boy was never shy about dancing in public; middle school, he lost all his baby fat and became more confident as ever; high school, he performed at school dances and even won the title “Teen Popstar” at a talent show. And yes, that’s your bestfriend. The end of the school year was fast approaching and for the first time ever you wished it wouldn’t come, as the reality of Ten’s departure to pursue his dream on the other side of the world was coming true, and thereafter a limitation of time spend together. The human heart is treacherous—you found yourself avoiding him even so just because you weren’t ready for it and you couldn’t see yourself ready for it. It wasn’t that you weren’t happy for him. The whole thing about farewell was so heartbreaking in which you’d rather not make it happen as if leaving a sentence trail unfinished. However Ten wasn’t having any of it, he’d rather spend every second with you doing all the silly stuffs and crossing out your best friend bucket list. Hence he dragged you from your house to the carnival, and he paid, and he bought you a cluster of balloons, tied them on your wrist so you wouldn’t get lost in the crowd. Then, he let you took over the car radio and played your favourite song, sang along and rumbled down long empty roads till he stopped at an overlook, offering breathtaking views over the city. “I’m gonna miss you so much,” you mumbled sadly. “I’m happy to hear that,” he said, not looking at you. He was occupied with the tangled strings between his fingers, desperate to get his hands onto something he’d been wanting to do forever, but he could hear your sniffling. “Stop, you’re going to make me cry!” a voice squeaked and you were taken aback from the third voice at first, before realizing it was Ten who had emptied a balloon. “What the—” you laughed uncontrollably at his success in making you less sad. “Your turn.”You took a breath of the helium and spoke, “As I was saying, I’m really happy for you but honestly, I couldn’t imagine college without you. I’m gonna have to walk to class alone, eating lunch alone…” even your sigh came out high-pitched.“Don’t worry so much about it, you’re going to be fine. You’ll make new friends, you’ll see!” “I don’t know… People are just… mean. And I don’t see myself having fun with anyone else…” you scrunched your nose in distaste. Before the voice-altering effect ran out, Ten took another mouthful, “Well, I’m only one call away. You can even come visit me. Smile for me. It’s not like I’m dying over here, quit being gloomy!” “I know, I know,” you slumped against the seat again and stared at him, “I love you.” You really wished he’d never leave. But then again, you could always visit him there. “You better be a star when I meet you next time.”“Love you too,” he squeaked. “And definitely, I will.”The conversation couldn’t get any funnier with your voices sounding like that. When would the time come for you to be like this together again? You wished you’d never grow up so you wouldn’t have to step into another chapter of life, one without your best friend, you wished for the time to stop; You wished you’d already went through the complications in life so you would be basking in freedom, reunited with your best friend once again, you wished for the time to fast forward. You’re really going to miss him, a lot. -- source link
