ROCHAS (2003 F/W Ready-to-Wear) design::Oliver TheyskensI might have old lady taste idk but i just completely get him :,) the simply ever-over-inflating romanticism. about magazine art formatting:: as a kid I did not have the Vogue thing but I had these cheaper (but with just as much creative energy) Japanese magazines that were like directly from the runway and they always showed the more avant garde of the trendy houses like Galliano couture extravagancies. And this ^ was how they formatted the pictures lmao just a literal side by side collagey mess, i kinda love the aesthetic tho so 2000s. But i’m glad that I saw this type of non-vogue non-trend-filtered magazine, not because it was “non–mainstream” or niche whatever, but because it was COMPLETELY EGOLESS. The photography style of the runway pictures is so thirsting for personality, so detached, and the harsh unorganized grid of images isn’t trying to push any narrative on you. The shows were never even the gritty deconstructive raf simmons comme des garcons type of stuff, it was the more chanel christian lacroix girly couture, so it wasn’t aesthetic or on purpose. It was like abandoning the need for presentation in the most presentation dependent brands of dior and what not.The lack of personality is almost the preferred fashion personality and life personality for me, I’m finding. In life i’m extremely craving for finding beauty and value in this type of bland environment, and I think this idea stemming from these magazines. It’s almost like that buddhist? thing of reaching nirvana through complete removal of all pleasures. Anyway yeah i’m still trying to figure out how to organize runway stuff without being messy but also while capturing the liveliness of a show (so side by side pictures from the vogue archive wont do) Also I used to write more sporadically with topics non-related crashing erratically into bulletpoints but idk lately i’ve been wanting to write about a singular topic and just organize my impressions into an impressionistic essay. it’s just more fulfilling -- source link
