SO I LITERALLY FINISHED THIS YESTERDAY AND HAD TO COME AND DO THIS REC BECAUSE DAMN!!!!A patient who’s in a vegetative state for six years but actually has full auditory capabilities, and one day in his seventh boring year, his doctor, who is also an assassin from a huge organization, begins describing his kills to him, in detail.Plus the manhua looks so damn good too!!!ANDDDD I made a carrd for it as well, translations to be confirmed~SummaryWang Jue has been in a vegetative state for more than six years after a car accident, and unbeknownst to everyone else, including all his nurses and attending physician, he’s actually capable of hearing. He’s unable to move, and spends year after year in boredom, with only a woman who everyone thinks is his dedicated, devoted girlfriend, visiting regularly. One day, in the monotony of days, his attending physician, Li Wei, decides to talk to him.He tells Wang Jue about his assassination techniques and killing methods, of how he uses advanced technology to make all his kills look like ‘natural’ deaths. Some of the kills he makes are of VIP patients who are warded in the private, expensive hospital he works at. Wang Jue’s senses are so stunned and stimulated that he goes from vegetative to awake in the span of the six months LI Wei talks to him, every day without fail. He’s not so happy, however, because now he knows his doctor is a psychotic killer, and Wang Jue cannot run; after years of being in a vegetative state, his muscle mass has wasted away considerably and he’s even lost full speech capability. Plus, once his doctor realizes he’s been awake for months, Wang Jue is sure that Li Wei will kill and silence him. And so on a day when Li Wei is out, Wang Jue decides he has done enough secret physiotherapy and rehabilitation to escape. He vanishes from his room and heads on his escape route. The moment he does however, nurses realize that he’s disappeared from his room and calls Li Wei, who’s in the midst of another assassination outside. Li Wei is livid - how can a patient with less than 1% odds in waking up actually disappear? CCTV footage reveals that Wang Jue, while moving slowly, is actually moving, which means he woken up months ago, because if he had just woken up, there is no way he would be able to walk like this. Li Wei heads back to the hospital, and captures a soon-to-escape Wang Jue, bringing him back to his house. As they live together and scheme against each other with hidden motives, Li Wei realizes that Wang Jue seems to know a lot about his organization, about him, and about his boss. Was the accident eight years ago actually an accident? And just what is Wang Jue running from? ReadNovel (Online) | Novel (Print) - Uncensored (Publishing in Apr-May 2022) | ManhuaCharacters李微 Li Wei - A top-ranking assassin in his organization who doesn’t remember his past, having been captured since he was young and living under the teachings of the organization. Just like many others like him, he is incapable of understanding emotions as he’s been trained to be an unfeeling robot who listens to commands only. He’s incredibly intelligent and his degree and training as a doctor are 100% real. His final year thesis and current research focus has to deal with cancer cells and more as his organization specializes in ‘natural’ killings, i.e. creating tasteless and undetectable poisons, even diseases, to murder high profile patients on his list in this hospital.Wang Jue has been his patient since he transferred to this hospital, and finds himself intrigued and amused at Wang Jue’s actions. And while he doesn’t know what it’s like to want, like, or love someone, Wang Jue’s appearance means he has to face his past, and what he’s lost. It helps that Wang Jue seems to know exactly who he is, and also seems to have come from the same place as Li Wei has. At the very least, Li Wei’s boss knows of Wang Jue, and has put a hit out on him after realizing he’s awakened.王珏 Wang Jue - A patient in a vegetative state who only has 1% odds in waking up ever again after an almost fatal car accident. Prior to his accident, he was a forensics scientist and also considered a genius in his field. He’s forced to listen to his doctor recount all his murders to him, and wakes up in his seventh year in the hospital. Knowing that he has to escape the hospital and this doctor, Wang Jue pretends that he’s still in a coma for half a year while secretly forcing himself through physiotherapy to regain mobility. Finally, on the night when Li Wei says that he is leaving the hospital for a bit, unable to visit him regularly, Wang Jue decides that this is his chance. He escapes, but the nurses are quick to discover his vanishing act and pulls the security tapes, only to realize in shock that he’s awake and moving. Li Wei realizes that this escape was premeditated to avoid him, and is both annoyed and intrigued that this man has taken so many measures to avoid him, and goes to catch him. However, he seems to know more than he lets on; about his car accident, about Li Wei’s organization and about Li Wei himself. He doesn’t want to just destroy the organization, but wants Li Wei too.席眠 Xi Mian - Another top ranking assassin who is second only to Li Wei. While there is no true camaraderie between two unfeeling assassins, they understand each other on some level. Given how smart they both are, they also realize intrinsically that there’s something not quite right with their past and the organization, although they are unable to break out from the shackles of their brainwashing and upbringing. He was tasked to bring Yan Chen back with him to the organization a few years ago, and doesn’t realize his feelings for Yan Chen until it’s too late.衍辰 Yan Chen - A master chemist and scientist who’s behind most of the deadly and lethal weapons that the organization uses. Since years ago before Wang Jue went into a coma, they were allies, because Yan Chen is in love with Xi Mian and has always been trying to wake Xi Mian’s dulled emotional senses up. He has to resort to extreme methods to get through to Xi Mian.Other Things I Liked in the NovelDespite all the drama and mystery and hidden agendas, I’d like to say it’s pretty much a fluff and romance book? Li Wei is emotionally lacking but he knows that he thinks about Wang Jue at least, and he’s pretty nice to Wang Jue even at the startWang Jue faints like 10,000 tiimes and Li Wei catches him 10,000 times. There’s a bit of dub-con in it in a sense that Li Wei pretty much puts Wang Jue on house arrest several times, and one of the times he does it so convincingly that Wang Jue believes that Li Wei has betrayed himThis is like chapter 2 of the manhua lmaoIt’s super interesting that Li Wei is actually really a doctor like while in assassin training school they did make him go to university and all, and he has his degrees and wrote an amazing thesis and is well known in the research field. And his side hobby is assassinations and researching deadly undetectable poisons or diseases that can aid in his killingsYes this story is sort of in a morally gray area, but it’s not really a good person guiding the evil person to salvation and redemption. Their pasts are intertwined and they’re selectively evil togetherThe second CP is heartwrenching for a bit but then the not-open ending gives us a 50% happy ending, which I’m super glad forLi Wei is very touchy and feely and loves kissing and hugging Wang Jue even though his brain doesn’t compute why, he doesn’t understand that this action/urge/feeling means that he likes/loves Wang JueIt’s like 30% comedic because Li Wei is rather eccentric when he’s not pretending to be a normal person with healthy relationships with other peopleAnd then you realize that the big bad, the organization’s boss, is a motherfucker and asshole all in one despite his pretty words - at some point it’s revealed that the man beheaded Li Wei’s dad in front of him when he was very young, and this caused him to have an aversion to round things. After he was brainwashed and made to forget his past, the man then made Li Wei become a doctor and specialize in brain surgeries, making him face round heads every day and strangely feeling traumatized/uncomfortable at that - a huge ass contrast to the diplomatic, slimey business man that the man pretends to beThe writing style is interesting as well as it weaves in and out of first and third person, but not in a jarring way. First person is usually done in the beginning of the chapter, whether in a few lines or a few paragraphs, before transitioning into the main story -- source link
