roshicorp: roshicorp: 2000GT-R Skyline / KPGC110 Launched in November of 1972, the fourth-generation Skyline took off far beyond it’s elder brother, the C10. It’s run lasted from 1972 - 1977 in a sedan, coupe, and station wagon body style. Nicknamed the “Kenmeri” (ケンメリ) or “Ken & Mary” from it’s advertisement featuring a couple named Ken and Mary, ultimately pitching Ken and Mary’s Skyline. In January of the following year (1973) the C110 was revised and Nissan launched a GT-R version. It was the first domestic car to have disc brakes on both the front and rear. Sadly, production ceased in March of 1973, giving the GT-R a short lifespan from late 1972 - 1973. Japanese emission regulations and oil crisis led to it’s demise. With only 197 units being produced in Japan, it is the rarest GT-R Skyline. The Kenmeri was undoubtedly the golden stamp for Nissan and the Skyline branch, as it has given life to the following generations with it’s modern (at the time) look. It was the first Skyline to implement dual-set rounded taillights, which can be seen on a majority of post production Skyline’s. The C110 came in three series: the 1600, 1800, and 2000. GT and GTX versions were renamed GT-E and GTX-E after electronic gasoline injection systems were installed in 1975. The S20 (only found in GT-R models) was a 24-valve 2.0L in-line 6 that produced 120HP (160) at 7000 RPM. The S20 was essentially the twin brother of Prince’s GR-8 engine, which was found in the R380 racecar. Overall, six different engines were found in C110’s (including the S20). I did this write-up three years ago for this post and several other cars (the good days when my URL was 240posse and people actually spoke on here). I’m not quite sure why I stopped doing this, but I’m going to implement it again and do one at the end of every week. I hope you guys enjoy. -- source link
