crimesandcuriosities: On 17th January 1974, Timothy McCorquodale and an accomplice simply referred to as “Leroy” kidnapped, raped and murdered 17 year old Donna Marie Dixon after a dispute with both her and a friend in a bar on ‘The Strip’ in Atlanta, Georgia. Leroy had felt extremely embarrassed and angry after having his advances rejected by the girls, who instead struck up a conversation with two black men sitting nearby. He followed them into the next bar, where he was joined by accomplice McCorquodale and his girlfriend Bonnie Succaw. After a brief dispute in the bar toilets, the three assailants took Donna with them to their car and drove back to Bonnie’s apartment. It was here that a series of horrors began to unfold.Despite the presence of Bonnie’s flatmate Linda and Bonnie’s 3 year old daughter, Donna was raped, tortured and killed inside the flat. Donna was called a “nigger lover” and told she needed to be taught a lesson. McCorquodale struck her across the face with his fist before tying her hands together with a nylon stocking and gagging her with a washcloth. Following this, he used his heavily buckled belt to beat Donna across her bare back and burned her with cigarettes on her breasts, thighs and abdomen. At this point during Donna’s ordeal, Leroy participated by kicking her to the floor before McCorquodale used his teeth and a razorblade to mutilate her nipples. Horrifically, he then poured salt into her wounds to intensify the suffering further. Although Linda, who was 8 months pregnant, had been watching the torture being inflicted, she had now began to feel ill and retreated into the bedroom. However, the horrendous proceedings continued. McCorquodale used a lit candle to pour hot wax over Donna’s body, including around her vagina, and he then utilised a pair of scissors to draw blood in the areas around her clitoris. Leroy and McCorquodale together then began to rape Donna and afterwards inserted a small plastic bottle into her vagina containing an antiseptic solution, which they squirted into her. After this, they allowed her into the bathroom to clean up, although Timothy McCorquodale was planning her demise while she was in there. He told the others he was going to kill her, and as she left the bathroom he wrapped a cord around her neck and stangled her. Donna managed to cry out “my god, you’re killing me!” before McCorquodale snapped her neck. After she died, McCorquodale broke her arms and legs by stamping on them in order to fit Donna’s body into a case, which was then discarded like trash in a dumpster hours later.Timothy McCorquodale was convicted and sentenced to death for this vile crime. He was subsequently executed by electric chair on 21st October, 1987. Whilst seeing a psychiatrist during his incarceration, he had confided: “I cannot believe that I would do them things,”…“I just don’t believe I could do it.” -- source link
