luciferlaughs:Taking a look at his upbringing, it is no doubt that Henry Lee Lucas’ childhood could incite a murderous rage. Henry would state in a death-row interview, ‘’I was brought up like a dog. No human should have to be put through what I was.’’ Born on August 23, 1936, in Blacksburg, Virginia, Henry’s stepfather, an alcoholic, was nicknamed ‘’No Legs’’ by townsfolk due to the fact that his legs had been severed by a slow-moving freight train. Henry’s mother, Viola, was a part-time prostitute who forced her husband to watch her have sex with her clients until his death. From the age of 8, Viola would also force her son to watch her practice her profession. On top of this, he would dress him up in girl’s clothing and force him to attend school like that, where he would be taunted by other students. Henry had also lost his eye at the age of 10 due to a fight, which only added to the bullying. Viola’s cruelty was very evident in the way she verbally and physically tormented her son. Years later, the damage from her beatings would show up in Henry’s CAT scans. Like many serial killers, Henry began indulging in the act of torturing animals and even having sexual intercourse with them. Henry claimed to have killed his first victim was he was 15 after she refused his sexual advances, although, like many of his other confessions, he later retracted this claim. In the year 1960, Henry and Viola got into a drunken argument regarding her disapproval of a woman he was engaged to. The argument got physical when she struck him over the head with a broom, to which he took a knife and stabbed her in the chest. He was subsequently sentenced to 40 years in prison, but was released after only 10 years due to prison overcrowding. That was perhaps the worst mistake the judge could have made, as Henry Lee Lucas went on to become one of America’s most heinous serial killers. -- source link
