iowawomensarchives:Feminist proponents of the Equal Rights Amendment had a fierce opponent in Phyllis Schlafly. Some women decided to fight back with satire. These instructions from the protest organization Ladies Against Women (LAW) aimed to help women protest against Schlafly by being, well, a bit too enthusiastic. Dressing like stereotypical housewives, the women got their point across with cheers like “Suffering not suffrage!” and “Into the kitchen and out of the streets!”These materials, and others like them, can be found in the Tess Catalano papers at the Iowa Women’s Archives. -- source link
