allthecanadianpolitics:‘We will stop this pipeline’: Hundreds of protesters face off with police on Burnaby Mountain (with video)A crowd of hundreds took to Burnaby Mountain Monday to show and shout their opposition to Kinder Morgan’s proposed Trans Mountain pipeline in advance of a 4 p.m. deadline for protestors to remove their mountain encampments.Burnaby RCMP said earlier they did not plan to arrest anybody in connection with the injunction order. Protestors on the mountain outnumbered the visible officers by a factor of about 200-to-one.Elsie Dean, a 90-year-old Burnaby resident, was among those who braved the chilly temperatures to show opposition to the oil giant Monday.“I’m here because I don’t want this pipeline,” said Dean. “It’s insane.”Dean said she had “read the studies” and knew the facts about the project, adding that when she heard of Kinder Morgan’s plan to twin its pipeline she decided to take action.“I went to people and said, ‘look, we’ve got to form a group and fight this thing.’”That group became Burnaby Residents Opposing Kinder Morgan Expansion, or BROKE, for short.“It isn’t just about stopping a little pipeline.
