”Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urban Planning, extension, stages I-II 18-20 Academiei Street Bucharest, Romania 1965-66. Edgar Quinet side. Architects: Heinz Novac et al. 1968-70. Elena Voinescu, Gh. Filipeanu, Al. Beldiman © BACU The old School of Architecture built in 1915-1921 could no longer accommodate the increasing number of students in the ’60s and required an extension. The ensemble covers a triangular surface with the smaller side on Edgar Quinet Street and the longer ones on Academiei and Biserica Enei streets. The new buildings were erected in stages: stage 1, the Edgar Quinet side, 1962-1963, based on plans by arch. Heinz Novac; stage 2, a G+9 building on the corner of Edgar Quinet and Academiei streets, including design studios and the professors’ cabinets. The buildings are in a poor state, the exterior plaster is damaged by the weather and water infiltration, faulty insulation led to mould, decay of the concrete and, locally, exposure of the rebars, that require complete reconstruction. © BACU source: http://romd.socialistmodernism.com/index.php/2018/08/21/universitatea-de-arhitectura-si-urbanism-ion-mincu-extindere/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CcfrI_fDAx9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI= -- source link
