JUSTICE FOR DEAUNDRE PHILLIPSIn 2017, Deaundre Phillips was in a friend’s car outside an Atlanta police annex, waiting for the friend picking up documents inside. Nearby plainclothes police officers assumed the odor of marijuana was emanating from their car. Deaundre tried to flee when officers attempted to enter the car, possibly thinking he was getting carjacked. Then, an officer shot and killed Deaundre on the scene. Deaundre was 24 years old.
