Not just as a Drarry author but as an author who absolutely champions rarepairs and writes them so well? Like, yes thank you lqt, did not know that I actually liked the concept of Person x Person and yet here we are. Plus, always appreciate an author who doesn’t shy away from problematic content.MaterialsNot anything too special in regards to the materials of this book. Tried my first all cloth binding for this anthology! This is my third ever flatback too, and I gotta say that the hassle of not rounding and backing is kinda nice? But then also, for some reason I can’t case in flatbacks as easily as I can case in rounded and backed books? I’m so used to just placing books in the case by the shoulder and rolling the board on to the endpapers that actually lining things up caused me a bit of frustration. These books are not perfectly square, especially my own. I had lqt pick out the duo bookcloth for this since any color would have gone well for this book, and she picked this really pretty green and yellow color. The cover is very simple; it just has a quill in gold HTV! I made a dumb mistake and didn’t pay attention while I was ironing lqt’s copy and so part of the bookcloth on the spine is a little charred. I would have just made another case but I did not have any more 2mm bookboard on hand. It’s not super noticeable, but? Just pay attention to what you’re doing when you iron.Headbands are green and yellow DMC embroidery thread to match the bookcloth. They’re a little paler than I would have liked but I was limited in my supply at the time. For both of lqt’s books (I’m doing another bind for her besides this one!), I decided to go traditional and use marbled end papers. This book has this gorgeous yellow marbled paper from Mulberry Paper and More. TypesettingThis book made me realize how thematic my designs are for each book I’ve done so far and that, considering it was a collection of works with multiple different themes, that I need to take it down a notch. I still wanted it to look good but be more minimal, I guess? This was very hard for me to do, I really prefer not doing this type of design work since this is what I do at my full time job. Each story has its own iconography (all taken from the Noun Project) that separates itself from the others which also appears next to the page numbering for easy orientation. Just flop open the book and bam, you know which story it is. -- source link
