one of my favourite textile books is designs and patterns from muhu island by anu kabur, anu pink, and mai meriste, which is an enormous hardcover that contextualizes all the photographs of pieces from museums that it is full of, and also indicates how to reproduce them if you would like to. i am borrowing this pattern of motifs in a checkerboard for a mitten similar to the one pictured (heavier gauge though, 60 stitches around to the original’s 80, and with a gusset for the thumb), but added an interrupting magpie. -- source link
