pastmalebeauty: John “Butchie” Davidson (1945-1965). One of Bob Mizer’s favourite models. “Butchie was one of the liveliest, most energetic models we have ever had here. He was intelligent beyond his years, without being arrogant.” He was born in Bronxville, NY in 1945 and grew up outside of Baltimore, Maryland. Butchie was already in the US Marine Corp when he started physique posing in 1965. Butchie first met Bob Mizer in March 1965. In only six weeks Bob Mizer photographed and filmed him about eight times – solo and with other models like Tony Martin, Pat White, Bill Deane, Blackie Preston and Al Emond, who was a close friend of Davidson. He was featured in six AMG films. Davidson first appeared in a five page spread in Physique Pictorial in June 1965 - which was printed and released only weeks after he left for the Vietnam Conflict. Butchie never made it to the war. He died from Encephalitis on the island of Okinawa on the 4th of July 1965, five months before his 20th birthday, and only a few weeks after these photographs were taken. Ironically, though he would never know it, John Davidson remains one of the most popular ever AMG models. Adaptation of AMG Article Damn. Older than both my mom and dad, and died a few months after I was born. What a waste. He was a pretty man. -- source link
