So obviously I have lost my mind. Some points of interest:I don’t really understand how underwear worked at this time?? Not a lot of references/confusing information. So this might be a little ~avant garde~ for the era but Ed is all about progress, right?Previously I’ve drawn him in Chelsea boots but upon closer inspection it turns out he’s canonically wearing harness boots (most of the time??? anyway???) so I’ve adjusted accordinglyWent for suspenders instead of a belt because suspenders were a little more common at the time and also… I love themThe coat is a duster coat, which came into fashion after motorcars became a thing, to protect people’s clothes from the dust they kicked up. Typically they were light in colour, but Ed… is not known for his refined tasteGenerally, he’s sort of dressed to the nines in an attempt to inspire some respect, although the effect in reality is pretty humourous because he just looks like a child running around in a grown gentleman’s clothesPeople of the era would have always worn hats when out and about, but I feel like Ed probably finds hats annoying (or at least, I find them annoying to draw and his hair is so nice and fun on it’s own)There’s no symbol on the back of the duster, but if you look closely you’ll see it pinned to the lapel of his suitHis clothes (especially his pants) fit a little looser than a gentleman of the time would have worn them, but our boy needs room to move and traditional fabrics are not known for their stretch -- source link
