We’re back with this Wednesday’s Weed - this time Argemone mexicana, the Mexican prickly poppy, which those of you from North America might recognize as a native plant. However, where this one was photographed, in Tanzania, it’s an agricultural weed. Mexican prickly poppy has an interesting history of use in its native range, and can be used to treat malaria. It apparently is somewhat effective at treating it, but not nearly as effective as modern drugs, so should only be used if nothing else is available. -- source link
