Ink Studies To further experiment with the idea of the feel of the body rather than purely the aesthetics, I conducted these drawings which are done from feeling rather than visually observing. They are all parts of my own body mostly limbs which I did through touch, exploring texture, density and other elements. I tried to communicate elements of the body which were seemingly non-existant, showing only the parts which I knew where there according to what I could physically touch. For an example, one of the images is of my thigh; so there is roundness, a barely there line for the femur, a dark disc-like shape representing the knee joint. It was difficult to do as I was almost trying to re-imagine what the limb looked like without using my eyes and knowledge of what was already there. For me I can see the links between these 2D images and the cage like sculptures made from wire such as the void spaces, the geometric cellular shapes that relate to skin membranes. -- source link
