“The Death of Colonel Owen Roberts, c. 1779,” by Henry Benbridge. Though somewhat amateurish in execution, Benbridge’s painting is one of the precious few depictions of American officers contemporary with the Revolutionary Wars. Lieutenant Colonel Roberts was commandant of the 4th Regiment of South Carolina Artillery, and was killed at the Battle of Stono Ferry in 1779. -- source link
