My mother turns 89 today. Still blessed with a quick mind and witty tongue that have a thing or two
My mother turns 89 today. Still blessed with a quick mind and witty tongue that have a thing or two to say about a body that doesn’t keep up. My father took this photograph of her in 1955 - his interest in photography or any other hobby he might have been courting would be cut short by the demands of supporting a family. I keep this photo on my desk. For me it is very much a picture of both my mother and father. For me, there is more of him in this shot than if he’d been in front of the camera. I see my mother through his eyes. He was completely powerless in her presence until the day he died - on that day I made a promise to him that I would be a good steward of his love for her, that I would honor and cherish her. “Take care of your mother” were his last words to me. A command that continues to be the highest honor of my life. ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/CXv6mlmOJTx/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
