selenesurvivalgoddess: Who needs tin foil? Do you want to bring the whole kitchen with you camping? Real woodland wizard chefs use leaves! People have been using leaves for cooking and food storage around the world for thousands of years. You can even boil water in a large leaf if you need to. Wrapping food in leaf packages for cooking protects it from direct flames while sealing in the natural juices and retaining heat. Some leaves will also add a nice aroma and flavor to the food. Who likes essence of tin foil or plastic or metal in their food? A few popular varieties of leaves to cook with include bamboo leaves, grape leaves, banana leaves, lotus leaves, plantain leaves, coco leaves, ti leaves and badau leaves. Some leaves are easier to work with after soaking them for a few hours or overnight in warm water. After cooking with leaves you can discard them to just eat the filling or include them to eat with the dish, such as many grape leaves recipes. Lastly, cooking with leaves produces less waste and cleanup! Keep it green. #Survival #Bushcraft #WildFood #Camping #Cooking #WildEdibles #Green #CookingWithLeaves -- source link
