The Iguazu Falls. The stunning image below is of the Iguazu Falls, which span the border between Argentina and Brazil in South America (Argentinian Territory makes up around 80% of the falls, with Brazilian territory making up the remaining 20%). The falls sit on the Iguazu River, and the river itself forms the boundary between the two countries. The River originates in Curitiba, Brazil, and flows through Brazil for the majority of its course. The name Iguazu comes from the Guarani or Tupi words for Big and Water. The traditional story told about the formation of the falls is as follows; “God planned to marry a beautiful woman named Naipí, but Naipí fled from God with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. God was so angry that he sliced the river creating the waterfalls, condemning Naipí and Tarobá to an eternal fall” To find out more about the falls visit any of the links below. -LL Links; http://www.iguazufalls.co.uk/http://gosouthamerica.about.com/cs/southamerica/a/IguazuFalls.htm Image Source; http://bit.ly/qQlxzV -- source link
