Pictured is the Deweyville/Sabine Tram Company - 1916 Deweyville owed its origin to the purchase of 28,000 acres of timberland in south Newton County by the Sabine Tram Company in 1889. For 11 years, its owners cut logs along their 21 miles of rails and floated them downriver to the Bancroft and Gilmer sawmills at Orange. By 1900 the company decided to build its own sawmill at a new town named Dewyville.
