While it rarely occurs, commonfolk can be born with magic regardless of parentage. Children born with magic in these situations are actually a lot better off than children born of monsters. Monsters are granted a lot less trust as physically they are substantially more likely to expose their existence. As there isn’t a universal system for education or even exposure into monster and magefolk societies, it’s a mixed bag as to how well-off they’ll be. Some children are taken from their homes, some live in hiding successfully, some have connections to the mage society and can subsequently be moved to live and be educated in magic there.Thankfully for magefolk, memory wiping is a common skill to learn as it becomes rather important when dealing with potential “breaches” in the exposure of magic/monsters to the public. On top of this the entity of magefolk that governs over most affairs regarding magic and monsters takes great care in dealing with these matters. The Basilica as it’s called is multifaceted in function, dealing with all internal functions of mage society. -- source link
