For you Nyo!Vietnam shippers, you are allowed to say that he can miss any person/country that you desire (personally, I want to say that he’s missing Spain /shot), but this is something of a little personal project to me really. The real reason why the title is “I miss you” is because… well, I’m home sick to put it bluntly. As some of your probably knew, I’m Vietnamese-American and I haven’t been back to Vietnam for years now. There would be times that I would get this aches whenever I think about Vietnam along with my family and the people back at home. I left Vietnam at any early age when I was little but I usually visit it often during each summer vacation in my younger years. As I’ve gotten older, though, I haven’t been back lately due to some money problems and the timing. I remember the fishing villages, the caves, the markets, and the cities in Vietnam– though they’re now rather faded. My best memory of Vietnam would be of the grandparent’s house in the rainforest and I would remember fishing for small fishes in the streams using bamboo fishing poles (and accidently cutting my brother with my fishing hook on his finger– don’t ask). My grandfather has a beautiful garden at his house also with lots of vegetable and fruits and it was a lot of fun (though it took time to get used to– my mother is very comfortable with it though) sleeping in hammocks and seeing the stars (or what I could through the jungle canopy). So, as you can see, I’m pretty home sick even if I can’t exactly speak the language as good as a native speaker. Himaruya-sensei’s Vietnam is the representative of that country and so I portray that sad but nostalgic look through Nyo!Vietnam (I could draw the female counterpart instead but I felt like I haven’t drawn enough Viet-kun lately). The lotus is the nation’s flower so I do want Viet-kun to look at it with remembrance to his people and his country.I wish I colored the lotus better though.Anyway, this is the first time I have ever drew and colored in this style for a long time. I’m actually proud of it but the lotus… but I still have a lot to learn in pertaining towards coloring. I can do a line art easily– but coloring the line art has been a…..difficulty of mines. The skin tone might be too light though. I always ended up making the skin tone light… The line art shouldn’t be as bolded too…..If you want to ask why Viet-kun’s hair is brown– well, first of all, originally his hair is supposed to be brown even if he’s an Asian that I often portray as having black hair. But in reality, it’s supposed to be brown >.>Gosh, I hope he doesn’t look too much like Hong Kong…. -- source link
