PSA Reddit has them: a place to acknowledge you are at least 18 in your settings a separate checkbox indicating whether or not you are comfortable seeing NSFW material AND the option to filter (or not) NSFW content with EACH and EVERY individual search At least be honest about your mission: killing NSFW Tumblr. You could have kept kids safe by using the technology already at your disposal ^ but instead you chose a route that will ultimately eliminate NSFW blogs by organically killing their traffic. You’re not telling people they have to delete their blogs, which would be met with mass outrage, you’re sneaking in new algorithms that suppress the content you (i.e. Yahoo and its investors) find unsavory. Because if their blogs die gradually, people will change with the times or leave in slow enough droves that new users who don’t know any better can replace them without major losses to Yahoo and their investors, right? I love this site, at least I used to before you killed my blog–thanks for that, btw–but the more I fall down the Reddit Rabbit hole the more I kind of hope Tumblr goes the way of MySpace. -- source link
