Service dogs are a huge part of this project, and here are many of the ones painted in this deck! Since every card is based off a real dog model, it was extra special when a service dog would end up on a card. Service dogs assist disabled people by performing trained “tasks”–like alerting to a blood sugar drop, providing pressure to calm anxiety, guiding, or helping someone stand after a fall. Service dogs are incredibly talented, loving dogs…they show off the best our canine companions can do. The Barkana has always had a social mission, too. 10% of profits after the Kickstarter will be donated to service dog organizations, and each deck shipped in the US contains two service dog fact cards.
