It’s Toy Time Tuesday! With…Squinkies tiny zebra & pink unicorn. To get even smaller toys for little Peeks to play with, we’ve had to go from Loopsys to Squinkies. Squinkies are sort of rubbery solid plastic animals (of all sorts) in generally fantasy colors. They’re mostly bigger than this, this one is part of their smallest line of figures. At this point, the toy is down to about a centimetre long. The 2nd one there is some kind of unicorn? It looks like it’s either got a yellow veil or maybe a helm of some kind, with the horn on. They’re both fairly cheerful looking, in their stylized way. (As in, no gap between front and back legs because they are so boxy, and the head is the size of the body) However, they still have ok details like the nostrils are in the right spot, as is the tail, and the eyes are actually on the sides of the head with the ears on top. Even on something this “wacky” they managed to get them looking horsey, which is very interesting given how it seems like every designer these days (even for Barbie) has forgotten what a horse is*. These aren’t elegant or amazing, but they are the smallest fantasy horse toy that I have. Managed to pick them up at a flea market, down with pebbles and things in the bottom of a toy sale bin. The zebra was free because they were too amazed that it could even be found and had no idea what it was and said it was deserved to go to one who could find it. These are unlikely to be very costly, but due to the size of them…you’d actually have to find them to buy it!*Forget what is a horse: They seem to think it’s a dog(The top picture is so funny, she looks so proud of the toy. & there is something so interesting about the precise curves of the pony and the abstractness of it as a general form of non-existent creature that is at the same time instantly recognizable) -- source link
