Waddesdon Manor.The spectacle of dancers’ silk clothes and lively steps was a highly successful theme for Pater. Well-dressed men and women gather in bucolic glades, enjoying entertainments as well as each others’ company. The style of the seated women’s dress in this painting is very close to Pater’s A Gallant Conversation (Wallace Collection, P458) dated to c.1728-30. -- source link
