The Oceanic White Tip, once described by Jacques Cousteu as the most dangerous shark, tends to stay in deep open waters. Despite having very few confirmed attacks (only 5), Cousteu probably had good reason to describe it as such. Large food sources are scarce in the open waters of the oceans, so it has a very varied and non-selective diet and tend to gather in large feeding frenzies. It’s often pointed out as a culprit to a great many deaths during WWII, gathering around downed aircraft and sinking ships. Like many other sharks, it’s listed as vulnerable and is populations are estimated to have declined by around 70% since the 1970s. -- source link
