chaosophia218: Ancient and Magickal Alphabets. What???I don’t know about any of the other languages, but I sure know about Hebrew, and let me tell you - this chart is way wrong. To start, the alphabet used here is relatively late, having been in use since the 3rd century BCE. This chart should have used the ancient Hebrew alphbet (Paleo-Hebrew).Next, the letters - several mistakes:Calling א an “A” is misleading. Alef is no more “A” than it is “E” or “I”. It’s the glottal stop that comes right before the vowel.“C” is not ש.“F” is not ט. Really, I have no idea why they’d write that, they’re nowhere near similar. The Anglo-Roman “J” wasn’t pronounced like in ‘jalapeno”, it was pronounced like the English “Y”. So comparing it to ח is wrong too.“Q” sounded nothing like ק.“V” was an allophonic variant of ב, not the phoneme of ו.Relatedly, “W” wasn’t marked with two Vavs (וו), only one - the doubling is from modern Hebrew.“X” is not צ. Really. Why would you do that? Is it because they look similar?A bunch of other allophones that were disregardedHonestly, whoever did this didn’t bother to fact-check. I apologize tto anyone who saw this on our blog and thought it real.-Sarai -- source link
