Scout was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease in March. She’s been on countless medications and has had 8 blood transfusions. This past week we were told that even if we keep up with the treatments, she will probably not live through the rest of this month, we may even have only a few short days left with her. The medication was making her miserable, her breathing was labored, she could barely walk and she had no appetite. So yesterday we took her off the medication. Today we took her on her last beach trip and she was just like a puppy again and slept in my lap the whole way home. She was the runt of her litter and we were told early-on that this could effect her health later in life but we took the chance anyway, and I am so glad we did. She is almost 13 years old and has had an amazing life full of travel and friendship and my family loves her so dearly.
