ocean-in-my-rebel-soul: buttsonthebeach: idrellegames: What is it? Dragon Age: Insurrection is an unofficial, fanmade text-based adventure game written and developed by @idrelle-miocovani. I am a scriptwriter working on my narrative design and branching dialogue skills. This is my first time learning how to code a game, so Insurrection is intended to be a fun experiment that tests out my skills before I branch into developing something original. What is it about? Set during the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Insurrection follows the story of an original player character. You play as a newly recruited Inquisition agent who is sent to the Nevarran city of Cumberland on a routine mission to retrieve magical artifacts from the College of Magi. However, things quickly fall apart as you find the city caught between several powerful factions, including the Mortalitasi. As you become embroiled in a plot that could either save or destroy the city, you must decide who you are going to help and who you are going to betray. What features will it have? As I am still at the beginning of the development process, many things are still up in the air (and dependent on whether I can figure out a code for them). Most of what follows does not stand in stone (even the title–Insurrection–is technically a working title, I may change it later on). As it stands, here are some elements that I intend to implement: Set the player character’s first and last name to your own choice (no default names) Set your DA:I worldstate (Inquisitor’s name, race and class, LI and one or two major choices) Choice of gender (male, female or nonbinary) Choice of race (human, elf or dwarf) Choice of class (warrior, rogue, mage) Choice of different backstories (including city elf and apostate mage) 3 companion characters 2-3 romances (optional) Codex entries to keep track of information you pick up around the city Inventory system to keep track of items you pick up Approval system that can affect how companion characters react to you and your choices Consequences for your actions (i.e. characters may leave or die depending on how you navigate the game) Multiple endings Basic RPG system and stats for combat What program are you using? I am using Twine 2, specifically SugarCube 2.21.0. Twine is an open-source tool for creating interactive, nonlinear stories. When do you intend to release it? I am aiming for July 2019. The story is already mostly structured and I am working on coding the systems I want to implement. With all branching paths combined, the game will be the length of a 100,000 - 150,000 word novel. What’s this blog for? @idrellegames tracks my progress. I’ll be sharing announcements as I make major decisions about setting, choices, companion characters, canon character cameos and story beats. Questions? My ask box is open! Feel free to drop me a line if you have questions. This is a fanwork. I am not affiliated with BioWare or its properties. @idrelle-miocovani this is so cool!!! I will definitely be following this!!! Oh my God this is so awesome! @idrelle-miocovani ,how do you have time to do all this??? I can’t wait! As someone who has tried to do something similar I wish you luck -- source link
