GAMEPLAY FEATURE - CAPTURING (PART ½) 6 Days Until Premiere! ______________________________________________________________ In this special two-part update of GriMagia, we will cover one of the most important aspects of the game: capturing! In this game, there are two ways to win: either capture 5 monsters from your opponents’ field(s) or reduce each of your opponents’ health points to 0. Capturing monsters is one of the paths to victory. Capturing monsters by using Grimoires is very handy when it comes to battle - it eliminates opponents’ monsters from the field, leaving them open for a direct attack! This game greatly encourages capturing, and it rewards players for doing so. However, your hand becomes smaller and smaller as you attempt to capture more and more monsters, leaving you with less resources. The less options you have, the easier your opponent can overwhelm you with their own monsters or Grimoires, so be careful! What are Grimoires? Grimoires are magical books that GriMeisters use to capture monsters. In this game, there are 3 basic types of Grimoires: ATK, DEF, and HP. These three mirror the same basic types that monsters have. There is also a Holy Grimoire, which can act as any of the 3 basic types but costs more cards to use in exchange. You can only capture a monster using a Grimoire of the same basic type! How do you use a Grimoire? Grimoires have an inset value of energy called Magic Points (MP). MP is the power that a Grimoire has, and the more MP it has, the better its ability to capture monsters. A monster’s HP determines whether or not the monster can be caught by a Grimoire. If the MP of the Grimoire being used is greater than or equal to a monster’s HP, it is considered caught and it is sent to the player’s Capture Zone. Keep in mind that monsters in the Capture Zone can’t be used for battle - they essentially become win points. Grimoires are able to increase their MP by discarding card(s) of the same type. They can become powerful enough to catch almost anything! Capturing is simple in essence, but beware: your opponents might try to stop you from taking away their monsters with a Catch Block! We’ll go into detail tomorrow, so stay tuned!
