smolronan:AU: President Snow forces Peeta into believing that he is the leader of the Capitol forces and that he needs to take down the rebellion.I’m pacing from one side of the room to the other, trying to think of a way to dig Peeta out of the hole he’s been put into; the hole that is already so deep. He’s leading peacekeepers and fighting against us. But he isn’t himself. The Peeta that Haymitch and I know so well, would never do anything if it meant hurting the people he loves. “He has to be pardoned. He’s only doing this because Snow brainwashed him. Peeta wouldn’t do this if he were in the right state of mind,” I say quickly, almost to myself because I know that no one will listen to me. It’s pointless to try and defend - in Coin’s eyes - a traitor. “He can’t be saved. He’ll be killed for treason once they capture him and bring him back to us.”Haymitch doesn’t even bother taking another swig after the meaning behind his words finally hit both of us.
