cry-olophosaurus:Quetzalcoatlus northropi at the Melbourne Museum, Victoria, Australia. Quetzalcoatlus is a genus of azhdarchid pterosaur (not a dinosaur) from the Maastrichtian (late Cretaceous) age in North America. It is the largest known pterosaur and the largest known flying animal to have ever existed. Estimates put its wingspan at around 10-16 meters long, while its height when grounded is estimated to have been 3-4 meters at the shoulder. The body proportions of Quetzalcoatlus and other azhdarchids implies that they were very well suited for a terrestrial lifestyle, and may have hunted for food on the ground. -- source link
