these last two months have been a whirlwind… I participated in my first artist residency with World of CO and spent a month in Sofia, Bulgaria to make and present work from my project alongside a lovely array of international artists at our end-of-stay exhibition “LOCALITIES”. very honored to have been able to show my appreciation for the country while I was there. you can see a preview here and way more in-depth posts + photos on my patreon.(read below for a related weepy essay on art and classism and stuff)if it wasn’t for a nonprofit afterschool program that introduced us poor kids to art residencies I would’ve never known such things existed. art is such a gated community of a profession. if you weren’t raised in an arts-educated family or were unable to study and make those connections yourself it can seem impossible to find opportunity. but the internet is really changing things. I feel very lucky to be alive in these strange, scary times. I am really bad at checking tumblr these days, but my DMs are always open if you think I can help answer some questions. -- source link
