 In the early morning hours of December 29th, 1989, 18-year-old Sarah DeLeon left her boyfriend’s house in Kansas City, later being found dead near some railroad tracks. It was discovered that the teen had died of multiple stab wounds and blunt-force trauma to the head. Her abandoned car was found a day later near her home, though all of her personal belongings remained intact, which ruled out a possible robbery attempt.  On January 30th, 1994, 26-year-old Diana Ault was spending Superbowl Sunday with her two young children when she was randomly ambushed by an unidentified gunman. The young mother was shot at point-blank range in front of her children before the killer fled in her car, later finding the abandoned vehicle and the murder weapon a mile away. It was reported that shortly before Diana’s murder, she was being relentlessly harassed by a woman who was romantically involved with her husband, as he was known to have extramarital affairs. According to friends and family, Diana would often get threatening phone calls from the woman, with her even breaking into Diana’s house at one point.  The cases have ultimately remained unsolved for years, though investigators have tried to link the two similar cases with each other. In 2016, police have began suspecting 46-year-old Carolyn Heckert of Smithville, Missouri, of being the killer. Although no formal charges have been filed, investigators theorize that Heckert was once involved with Diana’s and Sarah’s partners, later killing them both out of romantic rivalry. -- source link
