hjmarseille:Trenches were equipped with a variety of ‘bomb stops’ to prevent an enemy who entered the trench grenading his way along it. This barbed wire gate, in the Cambrin Sector held by 1/7 Sherwood Foresters in September 1917, could be shut to bar and attacker’s progress. The sentry is wearing 1914 pattern leather equipment.
