tumblhurgoyf:necrogen-egregore:bace-jeleren:island-delver-go:Ummm, could these be real?I'mma approach these with hella amounts of apprehension…A fixed “Barry’s Land” that doesn’t count towards domain and “must be paid with colorless mana” in an Eldrazi cost… well, it seems real to me!Take a look at this art showing a Kozilek brood spawn over a bismuth rock… now check out the Wastes art.I would say “I want to believe”, but I already do. Note that this isn’t actually Barry’s Land. The point of Barry’s Land was to raise Domain count to 6 by adding another basic land type. The basic pictured here has no basic land type, so it wouldn’t increase Domain. That said, I seem to recall a point in time where Tabak seemed to feel that basic lands had to have a basic land type. If real, then obviously I am either misremembering that or opinions have changed.Basic here would simply mean that a deck can contain any number of Wastes and also that cards like Path to Exile would allow you to find a Wastes. That connection with the bismuth is really great. One of my first instincts was “that doesn’t look like Eldrazi corruption we’ve seen so far” so that gives it more credit in my eyes. This is a really cool pair of custom Magic cards, and I want to give a lot of credit to whoever made them. But there is one huge reason that I do not believe they are legitimate spoilers. There is no reminder text on the card telling players how to treat this special colorless mana. Think about Phyrexian mana or Snow mana. Every card with the special mana symbol explained to players how to play with the new symbol. There is no way a new symbol like this would be introduced without reminder text on every card where it appears. Also, if this cost can ONLY be played with land that produces special symbol, you haven’t really made Barry’s Land. You’ve made a sixth color. That’s my two cents, anyway. -- source link
